Right to Repair
"A small increase in cost at the design and manufacturing stage will give a massive payback to the customer in the long run."

At KOM we are avid supporters of the Right to Repair.

All our products are designed to be high performing, long lasting and more cost effective in the long run. KOM products are designed to last for decades rather than days.

Our products are designed to be easy to repair with a special emphasis on those areas most likely to wear being simple to access and thus easiest to repair or replace.

Where possible, our products are designed to be dissambled with the most common bike tools.
A small example is the KOM 'insert'. These (caps) insert or push into the end of hub giving different axle width, diameter and seal options. (Also see modular design.)
On nearly all legacy hubs these inserts are difficult to grip and can be very difficult to remove if they have been in place for some time.
KOM always design these components with a lip so they are easier to grip when pulling them out. With KOM hubs you can hopefully remove the inserts quickly, even without workshop tools.

e.g. The (black) inserts on the ends of Xeno hubs are designed with lips to enable easy removal even without conventional tools.
All spares parts, however small, are available for sale.

KOM spare parts are available for decades.
(You will not be given the message, "This product is no longer supported." Our products will not become obsolete overnight.)

All special tools are available for purchase and some may be available for loan too.

Clear documentation, instructions or help on how to repair are available from KOM.

From the drawing board, KOM components are designed with long life, ease of service and easy repair as a central ethos of the design and development process.
"A small increase in cost at the design and manufacturing stage will give a massive payback to the customer in the long run."
All components are replaceable or upgradeable, normally, with simple bike shop tools.
Any special tools required will be available to buy from KOM.
Similarly we will endevour to give clear instructions on how
to repair, replace or update components as well as hints of how best to do it.
